Rumor central: Packer out??

Posted in local interest, opinion column by mshigh on December 22, 2010

The shoes are starting to fall at Blackfoot High School.  I have had an unconfirmed report that Blackfoot boys varsity coach, Jonathan Packer has been suspended from his coaching duties for the Broncos.

First of all let me say that if this is true it has occurred at a most suspect time with the game with the Panthers tonight but truth be told, I don’t think that it surprises many.

I hope to see coach Packer back, I honestly believe that he is a good man, a good coach, and has the best interests of the Blackfoot program at heart.  Unfortunately he was caught up in a horrid situation.

I will confess that I have little or no knowledge surrounding the current investigation surrounding the Blackfoot athletic program and to be perfectly honest, I don’t want to be involved.

I sincerely wish everyone the best in this whole ordeal but for now, I will reserve judgement, and will do my best to focus on the athletes that are on the court now.  I feel that they deserve at least that much.  I don’t want their accomplishments, under a highly stressful situation, to go unnoticed.

Thanks from the sports desk
